Players will get to return to Pandora soon. Rumor has it that Gearbox Software program is working hard over a sequel to co-op shooter Borderlands and that an announcement is originating soon.

Reported by Eurogamer, Borderlands 2 will probably be released in 2012. Including the previous game, it’s being developed for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Those include the only details they divulged, though.

Borderlands is a first-person shooter by role-playing elements combined in. Players pick a character class with unique abilities and develop them as they quite simply level up. The other way they grow stronger is through loot. The attributes of the weapons and backpacks are randomly-generated, ultimately causing millions of possibilities. About four players can team up on the web and battle over the harsh wastelands of Pandora.

Gearbox hasn’t ever been coy regarding the chance for sequels. Before Borderlands being in stores, they were talking about a follow-up. Gearbox Software creative director Mike Neumann known as the Borderlands sequel a “no-brainer.”

A couple months after Borderlands’ release, Gearbox trademarked the term “Borderworlds” in the usa. Borderworlds was interpreted for title for any sequel. Eurogamer makes no mention of this title for their report, though. Keeping Borderlands in the title may be the smarter move for sales.

Regardless of whether “Borderworlds” results the game, it did seem to suggest something important regarding the game. “Borderworlds” implies a larger scale versus the phrase “Borderlands.” The game features multiple planets, rather than just one?
